Our CEO Alberto Martín Rivals participated together with Guillermo Zanón Bueno from Fronius Solar Energy, Iñigo Prior from BDO and Luis Navarro Buciega from Cover Solar in the round table on industrial self-consumption, moderated by Irma Villar.
The discussion confirmed that industrial self-consumption continues to grow at a good pace in Spain (around 1 GW per year) but that it will require four key regulatory actions to continue growing:
1- Give priority to self-consumption in access and connection to networks so as not to waste surpluses
2- Include “behind the meter” batteries in the new regulations announced for payments for storage capacity
3- Provide continuity to the PERTE for industrial decarbonization beyond 2024 to achieve a higher level of electrification of industrial energy demand by reducing Scope 1 emissions
4- Equalize the maximum self-consumption of proximity distance of the plants on the ground with those on rooftop, from 500 to 2,000 meters
