NetOn Power has been honoured, together with Acideka and the project’s other technology partners, with the Best Industrial Decarbonisation Project award at the fifth edition of the La Noche de la Energía Awards, organised by El Periódico de la Energía and held on 7 July at the Fundación Canal in Madrid. The awards recognise the most innovative and transformative initiatives in the Spanish energy sector in areas such as decarbonisation, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, digitalisation and talent.
The jury distinguished the project carried out at the chemical plant operated by Acideka in Lantarón (Álava), the first chemical plant able to decarbonise 100% of its industrial heat production through renewable energy and thermal storage. The facility has replaced its fossil-fuel boilers with a molten-salt thermal storage system, the ThermalBox® developed by Build to Zero, powered mainly by a 2.13 MWp solar photovoltaic self-consumption plant delivered by NetOn Power.
NetOn Power played a key role in integrating renewable energy for self-consumption, providing the supply needed to power the new system and ensuring efficient and sustainable operation. Solar generation covers 85% of the thermal system’s electricity consumption, eliminating 100% of the direct emissions associated with heat production and avoiding up to 1,310 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
The award was collected by Alberto Martín Rivals, CEO of NetOn Power, together with representatives of Acideka and Build to Zero, at a ceremony attended by more than 250 representatives of companies, public administrations and institutions from the energy sector.
This recognition highlights a collaborative model in which industry and its technology partners combine their capabilities to tackle one of the major challenges of the energy transition: the decarbonisation of process heat. It also reinforces NetOn Power’s commitment to value creation, sustainability and excellence, and consolidates its position as a benchmark in industrial self-consumption and decarbonisation solutions. The solution implemented in Lantarón is a success story that can be replicated in other sectors with high thermal demand.
NetOn Power thanks Acideka for its trust and El Periódico de la Energía for this recognition, which encourages the company to continue working towards a more efficient, competitive and climate-neutral industry.
